A semi-truck driver has to remain vigilant while driving to ensure their own safety, as well as the safety of others on the road. When a trucker gets distracted or doesn’t react in time to things going on around the truck, an accident can occur. Residents of Florida might be saddened to hear about the death of a Florida panther and how the slow-moving traffic around the dead cat contributed to an accident involving a semi truck.

The accident occurred on I-75 in Florida after a motorist struck the young male panther at around 12:30 on the morning of Jan. 2. The dead panther, which weighed 120 pounds, was in the middle lane of the highway. Traffic was moving slowly in the lane to the left of the panther. As a police officer’s camera was trained on the panther, a semi-truck driven in the lane with the slow-moving traffic plowed into several cars. The semi was allegedly rollicking uncontrollably before causing the accident. The victims in the semi-truck accident suffered minor injuries.

While nobody was seriously injured or killed in this truck accident, that isn’t always the case. If you have been injured in a crash involving a semi-truck, or if you have lost a loved one in a truck crash, you might be entitled to receive compensation for expenses and damages related to the accident. Consulting with an experienced Florida personal injury attorney can help you determine if you have grounds to seek compensation for medical bills, missed work, emotional suffering or a host of other claims.
