Teens hurt in Florida parasailing accident get settlement

Two teens were seriously injured back in 2013 in a parasailing accident. They were sailing as a storm blew in, and the high winds caused the line connecting them to the boat to snap, releasing the parasail while it was high in the air. The winds then swirled and carried it over the land, where the two girls slammed into a high-rise hotel and then fell down onto an SUV.

The two girls were each 17 at the time of the accident. They have just reached a settlement for an undisclosed amount of money. Though that amount isn’t publicly known, it has been said to be enough to help them get the care that they need for the rest of their lives, as they suffered from brain injuries.

In light of their injuries, those involved with the decision were careful to stress that this is not simply a check being handed out so that the girls can enjoy the money, but that it is money they really need for the way the accident changed their lives. Multiple parties were named in the suit, including the company that made the broken tow rope and the parasailing company that took the girls out in bad weather.

The injuries have impacted the girls in different ways; one said that she struggles with her memory and daily pain, while the other has issues with her vision. Both are happy, however, to have survived such a horrifying incident.

If you have suffered from a brain injury, no matter how it has impacted you and what care you may need, it’s good to know your rights to financial compensation.
